PDC - was he really all that?
Ok before conclusions are jumped he was clearly a magnificently skilled player who upon occasion demonstrated those skills, he also had a certain empathy with the supporters that prevails to this day

But, having grown up with Devonshire, Brooking and Bonds, also seen the end of Sir Bob and now witnessing that iconic potential with Payet, where does he fit in the pantheon?

For every moment of man Utd in the cup and that goal against Wimbledon, there was the sitting down on the pitch and the mysterious not travelling north incidents. Devisive in the dressing room yet a brilliant trainer and example setter to the youth. Bloke was a conundrum - so what are your views?

At the time opinions were split on the fora, be in no doubt of that. For me an enigmatic wanderer, somewhat unhinged who like a desert flower had brief flowerings of brilliance amid sustained periods of frustrating prickliness

Payet is better.

No he's not.

Could be.

But he's not.

Am also guessing they're fans who didn't travel away themselves in those days def, as I saw him play away well over 50 times I'm sure.

Re: PDC - was he really all that?
Kind of weird posters saying he went missing up North considering that's where two of his most notable games that people remember were...The Barthez 'Taxi' goal and picking the ball up at Everton.

Still i guess being an armchair fan now i know fuck all about football.

Re: PDC - was he really all that?
Di Canio was good but Payet is better.

If he stays for two years playing as he does now he will be a West Ham legend if he leaves us for a bigger club next season we will all hate him with a passion even a Frenchman has never seen, for at least another 20 years.

The site of him?

Well that's not right is it - when correcting someone's accuracy.

Come on Sprouts get a grip.

I don't think anyone that's followed your hero worshipping infatuation with me will find it in the least bit surprising

Pancho - I was being sarcastic. The site of him posting on completely the wrong thread has brightened up my day by a surprising amount.

Sprouts liking Griffin's work shows he's officially a spent force on here.

Sad to see.

Incredibly sad.

5 years is an interesting revision of history

Likewise if Payet has a storming end to the season but has an Arsenal kit on next season he'll be branded a bigger cunt than Milly...

Re: PDC - was he really all that?
Everyone running around with their cocks out and Kleenex boxes saying Payet is a better player.

Fucking nonsense. Payet's done for six months what PDC did for five fucking years.

People have short memories. The ball was like fucking glue to his feet. He used to single-handedly destroy teams.

If he turned up tomorrow and Payet was retired, you'd all be jizzing over him, saying he was the better player.

As mentioned before - worth the entrance fee alone, absolute entertainer.

The only tarnish for me was his final season when we got relegated.

Not really. Said with love.

Now go and shit yourself on another thread there's a good lad.
